Shri Sarthak Behuria, Chairman, PetroFed and Chairman, IndianOil was elected President of the World LP Gas Association at its Annual General Assembly at Seoul on September 23, 2008 on the eve of the 21st World LP Gas Forum.
The World LP Gas Association is a growing network with over 150 members in 90 countries and represents the interests of companies in the entire LP Gas value chain by providing a platform for exchange of best practices and statistics among its members.
Shri Behuria was earlier the first Vice President of WLPGA, representing the concerns of the LPG industry in Asia, including economic powerhouses like China, Japan and Korea. In his address, Mr. Behuria said that as President it will be his endeavour to strive assiduously to steer the WLPGA further on the progressive path.
As a global body, WLPGA is effectively positioned to continue dialogue with stakeholders and institutions around the world to enhance role of LP Gas and also contributes to sustainable development by propagating use of this clean burning fuel which also helps combat the threat of climate change.
The 21st World LP Gas Forum at Seoul was well represented by India with senior executives from the public and private sector and the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. The third session of the forum on Opportunities for LP Gas in Asia was chaired by Shri G. C. Daga, Director (Marketing), IndianOil where a presentation was also made on ‘LP Gas Industry in India – Challenges Ahead’ by Shri Alok Mathur, Senior Vice President and Head (LPG Business), Reliance Industries Limited.
In the fourth session of the forum titled ‘Towards Operational Excellence’ a presentation was made on ‘Benchmarking of Operations in LP Gas Bottling Plants’ by Shri G. A. Shirwaikar, Executive Director (LPG), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited. PetroFed was represented at the forum by Shri Y. Sahai, Director (Comm. & Mktg.) as a member of the Global Auto Industry Network.
