Seminar on “Simulation and Modeling in Process Industry” |
In its continuing endeavour to enhance Industry-Academia interface and provide opportunity to teaching faculty to upgrade their knowledge the Petroleum Federation of India organised a four-day residential seminar on “Simulation and Modeling in Process Industry” from June 9-12, 2009 at IIT, Delhi jointly with Lovraj Kumar Memorial Trust, Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, Honeywell Automation Limited and Indian Oil Corporation Limited. A one day study tour was organised on June 13, 2009 to the Panipat Refinery of IndianOil where there was not only a plant visit but also presentations and intense interaction on refinery operations with focus on secondary processing.
The programme provided exposure to 25 teaching faculty members of 12 engineering colleges from five states of North India. There were, in addition, two researchers from IIP, Dehradun and one PhD student from IIT, Delhi.
The programme included 21 lectures of which three were during the study tour at Panipat Refinery. The speakers included five domain experts from IndianOil, two from Honeywell and three from IIT, Delhi.
The residential programme was at no cost to the participants.
The participants rated the programme at 80% for its overall effectiveness.
