A guest lecture on 'Energy Saving in Pumps, Fans and Compressors' by Dr. P. K. Mukhopadhyay, former Chairman, IndianOil was organised by PetroFed on December 30, 2008 at New Delhi in its series of Guest Lectures and Thought Leadership programmes. The session was chaired by the eminent professor and past President of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, Dr. T. K. Roy.
Dr. Mukhopadhyay, who has also been Director (R&D) in IndianOil and Head of R&D in EIL, brilliantly brought out the large energy consumption in rotating equipment and how it could be curbed for efficiency and cost saving.
Dr. Mukhopadhyay has rendered consultancy service to various organizations like Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun, Petronas R&D, Malaysia, Bharat Petroleum Refinery, Mumbai, Central Pollution Control Board, New Delhi, etc.
He is a Fellow of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers and the Indian National Academy of Engineering. The Petrotech 2005 Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Dr. Mukhopadhyay in recognition of his contribution to the Oil & Gas Industry in India.
The wide appreciation of his presentation was evident by the extended question & answer session.
