CDM for Oil & Gas Sector

To coincide with the World Environment Day celebrations on June 5, 2009,  PetroFed organised a guest lecture on ‘CDM for Oil & Gas Sector’ by Mr. Indra Guha, Senior Manager, Risk Advisory Services, Ernst & Young at New Delhi.

Chairing the session Sh. S.N. Jha, Director, IOT Infrastructure & Energy Services Limited and former Director (Pipelines), IndianOil cited crucial figures to bring home the imminent need to focus on issues of pollution abatement and clean technologies. He called for the corporate world to have a green heart with high growth and low carbon footprint.

The World Environment Day was created by the UN General Assembly in 1972 to mark the opening of the Stockholm conference on the Human Environment to promote environment issues to become active agents of sustainable and equitable development.  The theme for 2009 is – ‘Your planet needs you – UNite to Combat Climate Change’.  The Indian sages and scriptures also teach us to not exploit but nurture nature’s bounty without indulging in wasteful practies.

Mr. Guha, a Civil Engineer from Calcutta University.  M.Tech. from IIT, Kharagpur and Business Management from IIT, Kolkata has expertise in almost all aspects of environment and pollution control.  Being a key resource in identification of potential CDM projects and taking them to completion of the CDM cycle his lecture was thought provoking with practical tips.  The depth and range of his knowledge was exploited by participants in the extended Q&A session.
