"India Energy Conference" |
The first India Energy Conference organised jointly by the Petroleum Federation of India (PetroFed) and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri M. Hamid Ansari on October 3, 2008 at New Delhi. The keynote address at the two-day conference was delivered by H. E. Mr. Abbas A Naqi, Secretary General, Organisation of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries, UAE. The nearly 300 participants and invitees were welcomed by the Conference Co-Chairman and Chairman, IndianOil and Petroleum Federation of India, Shri Sarthak Behuria. The Conference Co-Chairman and Director General, TERI, Dr. R. K. Pachauri addressed the gathering.
The conference, on the theme ‘Oil, Gas and Alternatives: Building Competitive Markets’, provided not only a comprehensive overview of the growing opportunities in the petroleum and natural gas business but also an analysis of the problems and prospects of alternative energy sources with an in-depth assessment of pricing issues and the regulatory frame work.
The conference was split into eight sessions with a dinner talk on the first day by Dr. Kirit S. Parikh, Member, Planning Commission, Government of India. Each session witnessed presentations by eminent persons on the subject. The first session was addressed by CEOs of leading companies in the country in the public and private sector.
